Prairie Coteau Watershed Improvement & Protection Project

Nine Mile Lake is located in central Marshall County, South Dakota. The watershed is mainly range and pasture land.  Nine Mile Lake was named for its distance from Fort Sisseton.

Maximum Depth: 10 feet

Mean Depth: 6.6 feet

Lake Volume: 1,861 acre-ft

Surface Area: 282 acres

Shoreline Length: 4.5 miles

Watershed Acres: 2,722 acres


Major Tributaries: Two small unnamed tributaries.


Warm Water Semi-Permanent Fisheries: black bullhead, fathead minnow, Iowa darter, johnny darter, largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, white sucker, yellow perch.
